The Yorkshire Ability Triathlon began in 2023 with one simple goal: to create a fun, inclusive event where disabled children and young people could try swimming, cycling and running in a relaxed, supportive environment.
From the start, it was all about having fun, trying something new and being part of something special - no pressure, just joy and new experiences.
By 2024 the event had grown even bigger, with more families coming together to support their loved ones. Alternative activities were added for those who couldn’t take part in all three triathlon disciplines, ensuring that everyone could be involved in some way.
Today, the Yorkshire Ability Triathlon is a celebration of inclusion, where participants of all abilities can experience the excitement of the event, make memories and feel part of the amazing Swim Bike Run family.
The Yorkshire Ability Triathlon will take place at Leeds Beckett University’s Headingley Campus, who as a founding sponsor, have given us exclusive access to their amazing sports facilities. Volunteers will also be ready to assist, while additional facilities like quiet rooms will be available for participants to step away from the event and decompress if needed.
At the heart of the Yorkshire Ability Triathlon is a commitment to inclusivity and support. We recognise that every athlete is unique, and we go above and beyond to accommodate individual needs.
From specialised equipment to personal assistance, we work tirelessly to ensure that every participant feels valued and empowered. Whether you require additional assistance in the water or a guide on the run, we're here to help you reach your full potential.
